SUMMARY:Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our AGM will be held at Torrens Valley Community Centre on Saturday 26th November\, 2022. \nOur amazing guest speaker\, Dr Kathy Burbidge will speak on the topic ‘If you plant it\, they will come.’ \n‘Where habitats are so degraded or neglected that they no longer support the species that were once part of that local ecosystem\, it can be discouraging and overwhelming to start to regenerate them. \nPlantings to replace absent native species once endemic to an area are a crucial part of rehabilitating the soil\, microclimates and habitats for other species\, so regenerating an ecosystem takes time and may not be fully appreciated immediately. With rewilding and the reintroduction of endemic wildlife species we hope that our revegetation projects adequately support them\, but sometimes they go further than expected. This talk will highlight three wildlife species\, Striated Pardalotes\, Ring-tailed possums and Grey-headed flying foxes\, that have unexpectedly responded to a planting and regeneration project in the Adelaide Hills\, and what hope we gain from these examples.’ \nDrinks and nibbles will be provided so please RSVP at your earliest convenience.
