The Sunday session went well.

We undertook two frog surveys along different sections of Howard Creek where water was present.

We heard calls, mostly very faint but submitted the surveys to FrogWatchSA. Likely to be the Common froglet (Crinia signifera), so stay tuned for the results.

Did anyone participate at home?

Other jobs we undertook included checking the rain gauge which recorded 72 mm, re-labelling the pink planting pins inside the exclosure, re-positioning the bamboo stakes against the plants and collecting ones that were not serving a purpose inside and outside the exclosure.

Sadly it appears all the Banksia’s have died but mostly all other plants are doing really well.

Liz spotted two Wedge-tailed eagles high up, could be the same pair from our last month’s bird survey. No Scarlet robins this time but overall lots of bird activity from Grey fantails, a male and female Western whistler, Yellow-faced honeyeater and Dusky woodswallows, thornbills (maybe yellow-rumped) and the usual suspects. Liz took some great photos which we have shared below.

Keep Sunday 19th October free for our final session.

1:30pm to 4:30 pm.

Bring a plate to share.

Meet northern end of park, off Burfords Hill Road.

More information to come.

Cheers,

Ellen
