Hi All,
Hope you have had a lovely 2023 so far and rested up to get the new year underway for Porter Scrub Activities.
Our first activity for 2023 is planned for Sunday April 16th (2:30-5:30pm).
This will be a bird ID session with Phil Barron (our bird guru), starting at Porter Scrub and then finishing the afternoon up at Lobethal Bushland Park.
We will first meet at the southern end of Porter Scrub main entrance for a 2:30 pm start, where we will walk along the main central track transect, identifying and recording birds for 20 minutes one way and return.
We will then make our way (in our own cars) to Lobethal Bushland Park main entrance and begin a walk through the park identifying and recording birds for 20 minutes one way, and return to the main lake for refreshments.
- Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Bring a deck chair.
- Bring binoculars if you have them.
- Bring your sense of adventure!
Here is the planned schedule for other activities in Porter Scrub 2023:
Sunday 21st May – Weeding bee and walk (9:00-11:30am)
Sunday 18th June – Tentative Fungi ID session (time to be confirmed)
July – Weeding activity (9:00-11:30am) (date to be confirmed)
August – Planting session (date and time to be confirmed)
September – Bird monitoring session with Phil (date and time to be confirmed)
October – Final activity – Monitoring & hand weeding in the exclosure and a walk to see the Spring flowers (date and time to be confirmed)
Let me know if you are able to attend the bird session on Sunday April 16th as soon as you can.
We will hopefully have volunteers from Lobethal Bushland Park joining us too.
Cheers,
Ellen
